Moalim Hussein Filaweyne, The Deputy Yaqshid district commissioner for administration and politics, was killed in an IED explosion in Mogadishu on Sunday night.
According to district administration officials, a bomb was fitted in his car in the Bula Maxaay neighbourhood in Karaan district,
No group has yet to claim responsibility for the attack, although security forces have since conducted an operation at the scene to search for the attackers.
The attack comes just a week after al Shabaab carried out a 30-hour siege on a popular Mogadishu Hotel, killing at least 21 people and injuring 117.
