Detectives have rescued 18 victims of human trafficking, from a house in Athi River area of Kenya.
In a statement issued by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the 18 were enroute to a destination in the Gulf where they were to be sold as slaves.
Three suspects have been arrested in connection to the crime. The three include; Abdullahi Hussein Mohamed, Hassan Ibrahim Godana, and Chari Dulacha. The trio are currently in custody at Muthaiga Police station being processed for arraignment.
“Jobseekers are advised to be wary of unscrupulous employment agents who are not recognised by the government but end up sneaking out immigrants without proper documentation.” DCI warned
The rescue of the victims and subsequent arrest of the suspects comes in the wake of increased cases of mistreatment of migrant workers in the gulf.
