The European Union (EU) has called on the Somali leaders to look after the public interest and avoid personal interests. They also emphasised the need to find a compromise leading to an immediate electoral process and a peaceful transfer of power, through the implementation of the September 17 agreement.

For the past two days, there has been a consultative meeting over the country’s electoral impasse between the federal government and some of its member states though Ahmed Mohamed Madobe and Saed Abdullahi Deni of Jubaland and Puntland states respectively have skipped the meeting, citing that some of their demands have not been met prior to the start of the talks.
Other previous scheduled meetings ended up failing, after the two Somalia allied states; Puntland and Jubaland declined to attend, but, now, the public is looking forward to the outcome of this meeting at Afisyone in Mogadishu.
