Four people lost their lives on Wednesday in Garissa County of Kenya in a suspected attack carried out by the Al-Shabaab militia. The four are said to have been aboard a vehicle that ran over an Improvised Explosive Device along the Garissa- Bura road .
Confirming the incident, Garissa County Commissioner Boaz Cherutich who led the Security Committee members into the scene noted that the deceased were in the vehicle that was leading a convoy of two other vehicles whose occupants escaped the incident unhurt.
Majority of the victims are officials from the Kenya National Highways Authority who were on a routine assessment of the Lapsset Road.
Police blamed the attack on al Shabaab militants and efforts to trace them are ongoing. In December last year, two police officers and a civilian were killed in a similar attack.
