The interim committee for the elections of vacant seats in the People’s Assembly announced that The election of the HOP147 seat that took place on wednesday was won by Ilyas Sheikh after he defeated his close rival, Amina Tahliil.
The elect Mp Ilyas who previously served as the former head of NRC in Galmudug state promised that he will work for the interests of the people and will represent his constituency regardless of their attitude towards his election win.
This seat Hop147 was previously occupied by the director of the Security and Intelligence Agency of NISA, Mahad Salad before President Hassan Sheikh appointed him as NISA chief.
The Electoral Commission will also soon announce when the elections will be held for other vacant seats in the People’s Assembly, including the seat vacated by Prime Minister Hamsa Abdi Barre.
