Puntland Leader arrives in Bosaaso Hours After An Alshabaab Prison Break

Puntland state leader Said Deni has arived in Bosaaso town hours after Alshabaab militants claimed to have been responsible for the midnight prison Break.

Alshabaab claimed to have freed more than 400 inmates on Friday midnight. The freed prisoners included militants being held at Bosaaso main prison. According to reports, several lives were lost during the attack.

“Last night many well-armed men attacked us from various directions. We fought back but finally they entered the central jail by force using explosions. They freed the prisoners and took most with them,” Mohamed Abdi, a prison guard, told Reuters.
