Saed Abdullahi Deni, the President of Puntland state of Somalia who is now running for president of the federal government,engaged in talks with the UN special representative to Somalia, James Swan, in Mogadishu to discuss the ongoing elections.
A statement issued by UNSOM termed the meeting as part of the regular “consultations” with the Somalia political figures. It added that Deni shared his future political plans for the country with James Swan.
Somalia’s President election is expected to take place immediately after the completion of the parliamentary seats. At Least 20 candidates have already shown their interest to run for President.
