Somali Forces Kill Senior Al Shabaab Fighter in Lower Shabelle Region

Somalia Military commandos affirmed they have killed a senior Al Shabaab fighter in the Lower Shabelle region during a military operation in Bulo haji of Jannale town. According to the leading military officials they conducted the operation after receiving surveillance indicating the presence of Al Shabaab fighters in the town.

The forces claimed their operation ended successfully and killed the head of explosives of Alshabab in the region who has been identified as Ismail Jiis, but the government forces did not make his photos available to the public.

The Military forces highlighted Alshabab was planning to conduct an attack but eventually the Somali forces prevented it. The commandos has strengthened the military operations against Alshabab in the region for the past days.

However the militants still control swathes of rural areas, conducting ambushes and planting landmines.
