Somali national army (SNA) has claimed to have killed 14 al-Shabaab fighters during a security operation against the group in central Somalia. Al-Shabaab has not yet commented on the operations conducted in those areas. The group controls several villages and small towns in southern and central Somalia.
Speaking to the media, Somali National Army General Mohamed Tahliil Bihi who is leading the operation in the Hiiraan region said Somali forces and locals liberated several villages from al-Shabaab fighters in Hiiraan region.
According to Bihi, the villages liberated include Teedan, Ragso, Hasan Raqay and Sulmo in the Mahaas district of the Hiran region. The forces also recovered weapons and medical kits in the areas.
