Somalia President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has arrived in Djibouti to attend a climate and drought conference. He spoke about climate change and its direct impact on recurring droughts on Saturday while launching a national tree-planting project in Mogadishu.
Somalia is among the most affected by drought in the region and sent a call to the international community for urgent response. The UN warned the country will face famine at the end of this year unless aid efforts were significantly stepped up.
However, Villa Somalia said the President will have additional meetings with the Djibouti government officials towards the ongoing war against Alshabab in Somalia. But did not clarify if military troops from Djibouti will be among their discussion.
