Somalia’s Galmudug state President reinstates interior minister

Galmudu state President of Somalia Ahmed Abdi Kariye Qoor Qoor has reinstated his minister of interior Abdi Mohamed Jama (Waayeel) after he was sacked in May last year in allegation of fuelling clan conflict in the region.

The minister had denied all the accusations and distanced himself from any involvement of inciting violence in his region. Qoor qoor and waayeel seem to be normalizing their political relationship ahead of elections.

Following Waayeel’s reinstatement, President Qoor Qoor instructed the various agencies in Galmudug to work closely with the Minister. However, the regional administration has not yet clarified if they have withdrawn their accusations against Waayeel.
