Somalia’s National consultative council meeting enters its second day

Somalia President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud chaired the 4th meeting of the National Consultative Council of the Federal Government and its member states which enters its second day on Tuesday.

The officials will be discussing security, specially the ongoing war against Alshabab which is underway in many parts of the country. They are also expected to discuss for the term extension by some of the federal member state leaders.

Initial reports also reveal that the recent clashes in Baidoa over regional leadership election would be the main center of Tuesday’s discussion. At the end of the meeting, there will be a joint communique about their final agreements regarding the discussions.

This fourth consultative council meeting in Mogadishu will be the second of its kind President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud chaired since he was re-elected in May 2022 which he aims to strengthen the relations between federal government and its member states.
