Southwest state of Somalia is expected to conclude its parliamentary elections next week, joining Somaliland which had already completed the process.
According to a statement by Southwest State Elections Implementation Team (SEIT), the state will hold the elections for seven parliamentary seats sealing a process that has been ongoing for months in Baidoa and Barawe towns.
The electoral delegates will be trained on the 13th of this month in Baidoa town. The electoral commission said the potential parliamentary candidates of the seats will be issued with clearance certificates.
According to the statement, the elections for the seats will take place on March 15, coinciding with the deadline set for the conclusion of the lower house elections.
