Reports from Baidoa city, in Bay Region say that three journalists from the Somali Journalists Association (SJS) were arrested by Southwest State intelligence officers for undisclosed matters, But later released them from prison.
Somalia’s Southwest state security forces arrested the three Somali journalists in Baidoa. The trio were reportedly planning to come back to Mogadishu after they finished training they attended in Baidoa.
A Press release issued by the Somali Journalists syndicate identified the trio as Mohamed Bulbul who is SJS Secretary of Human Rights; Hanad Ali Guled, the Secretary of Training and Mohamed Bishar, a media trainer.
However, the regional security forces have not yet given further details on their arrest but they later released the three journalists from prison as the Somali Journalists Syndicate confirmed to the public.
Somalia still remains the most dangerous place for journalists to work. Several journalists were arrested and some were killed in explosions this year alone.
