The United Nations Security council has urged the political stakeholders of Somalia to come back on the negotiating table and resume talks to find a lasting solution to the current political stalemate in Somalia.
There was no official statement as the meeting was held behind closed doors, but, some of Somalia’s international partners revealed that the United Nation pressured politicians to get back to Afisyone and resume talks immediately.
This comes at a time when one of the most influential clans in Somalia withdrew Farmajo’s recognition as President and urged Somali government to hold talks with regional states to end the current political crisis in the country barely two weeks after the electoral talks between Somali leaders failed.
It’s not yet clear how President Farmajo will react to these demands and possibility of holding free and fair elections in Somalia within a short time.
