In Calub, Somali Region of Ethiopia, the first phase of the Ogaden Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Project has been inaugurated, with an annual production capacity of 111 million liters. At the same time, the second phase, with a capacity to produce 1.33 billion liters per year, has also been launched. In addition to LNG production, the project will contribute significantly to power generation, with an installed capacity of 1,000 megawatts.
More importantly, this project is not only about gas production. It will also play a key role in achieving food security by providing essential inputs for fertilizer manufacturing. Furthermore, it will supply vital resources for energy generation and crypto-mining activities.
The mega projects launched today in the Somali Regionof Ethiopia ,together with related infrastructure, have a total value of around 10 billion U.S. dollars. With proper oversight, they will be completed and delivered for service, as the government remains committed to finishing what it starts.
