His Excellency Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (Irro), President of the Republic of Somaliland, today officiated the solemn commemoration of the 32nd Anniversary of the founding of the Somaliland Police Force. The distinguished ceremony was held at the Grand Hall of the Police Headquarters in the Capital city, Hargeisa.
In his keynote address, President Abdirahman Irro paid tribute to the unwavering service, discipline, and sacrifice of the Somaliland Police Force. He affirmed their indispensable role in safeguarding the peace, security, and public order of the nation; pillars upon which the stability and advancement of Somaliland have been firmly established.
The President extolled the exemplary leadership of the Police Command and lauded the significant advancements achieved under the current administration. He stressed that the Police Force stands not merely as an institution of law enforcement, but as a profound embodiment of the sovereignty, unity, and resilience of the Somaliland people.
Reaffirming his government’s steadfast commitment, President Irro pledged continued investment in the professionalization, modernization, and capacity-building of the Police Force.
This, he stated, is essential to empower the force in meeting the dynamic security needs of the country and fulfilling their constitutional mandate to uphold the rule of law and protect civilians and public assets.
The ceremony also featured addresses by the Police Commissioner, Brigadier General Abdirahman Abdillahi Hassan, the Minister of Interior and National Security, Honourable Abdalle Mohamed Arab, and the Chief of Operations, Mr. Ibrahim Haji Abdi. All speakers echoed recognition of the Police Force’s achievements and reaffirmed their critical role in the preservation of national harmony and stability.
In his closing remarks, President Abdirahman Irro urged continued devotion, patriotism, and professional excellence among all ranks of the Police Force. He further called upon the citizenry of Somaliland to stand in unity with their Police Service, as partners in the enduring pursuit of peace and nation-building.
