President Abdirahman Irro Holds Consultations with Erigavo Elders and Leaders

His Excellency, Dr. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (Irro), President of the Republic of Somaliland, today convened a high-level meeting in Erigavo with the region’s intellectuals, elders, traditional leaders, and cultural authorities to deliberate on matters of national significance, focusing on peace, social cohesion, and sustainable regional development.

The President commended the elders and traditional leaders for their historic and ongoing role in safeguarding peace and stability, emphasizing that reconciliation, social harmony, and the rule of law are the cornerstones of governance and national progress in Somaliland.

Prior to the start, President Abdirahman Irro reaffirmed that this visit forms part of the Government’s sustained commitment to consolidating peace, fostering national unity, and promoting inclusive governance. He highlighted that Somaliland’s future depends on dialogue, consultation, and the active participation of all sectors of society in shaping the nation’s path forward.

Addressing the people of Sanaag, the President urged elders, intellectuals, and community leaders to champion initiatives that drive social and economic progress, highlighting the region’s abundant natural and human resources. He reaffirmed the Government’s steadfast commitment to ensuring that Sanaag benefits comprehensively from all national development programs, emphasizing equitable and sustainable growth.

In response, the elders, traditional leaders, and cultural representatives of Erigavo commended President Irro for his visionary leadership and unwavering dedication to the nation. They expressed their full confidence in his ability to guide Somaliland toward enduring peace, national unity, and holistic development, affirming their continued support for his efforts to foster reconciliation and stability across the country.
