President Abdirahman Irro Holds National Briefing with Somaliland Political Party Leaders

The President of the Republic of Somaliland, His Excellency Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (Irro), today chaired a National Briefing Meeting at the Presidential Palace with the top leadership of the three national political parties — Waddani, Kaah, and Kulmiye.

The high-level meeting, which bore significant political and national importance, focused on key issues of national interest, including security and stability, the economy, foreign relations, and preparations for the upcoming elections. During the session, His Excellency provided the party leaders with a comprehensive overview of the prevailing national situation and the government’s strategic direction in the period ahead.

President Abdirahman Irro also briefed the party leaders on the objectives and diplomatic outcomes of his recent official visits to the United Arab Emirates and the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. He noted that both visits were of a strategic nature, aimed at strengthening Somaliland’s bilateral partnerships and advancing cooperation in the areas of security, investment, trade, and regional engagement within the Horn of Africa.

His Excellency President Abdirahman Irro reaffirmed that democracy, consultation, and good governance remain the bedrock principles of the Republic of Somaliland’s statehood. He emphasized that peace, unity, and the advancement of the national interest will always remain the foremost priorities of his administration.

The President further updated the party leaders on the ongoing Peace Initiative in Ceerigaabo, underscoring that the reconciliation efforts are progressing positively and demonstrating the nation’s enduring commitment to dialogue and stability.

In his remarks, President Irro urged the three national parties to continue fostering constructive cooperation — both among themselves and with the government — in order to preserve and strengthen Somaliland’s longstanding tradition of peace, democracy, and national consensus.

For their part, the leadership of the ruling party (Waddani) and the opposition parties (Kaah and Kulmiye) welcomed the President’s initiative, describing it as a commendable demonstration of genuine democracy and national unity. They reiterated their readiness to work closely with the government on matters of strategic and national importance.
