His Excellency Dr. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (Irro), President of the Republic of Somaliland, today hosted a high-level delegation from the Supreme Council for Arab-African Economy at the Presidential Palace in Hargeisa. The delegation is currently undertaking an official mission to explore investment and partnership opportunities in Somaliland.

Led by Dr. Hani Hassan Abu Zayd, President of the Supreme Council, the nine-member delegation comprises senior financiers, industrialists, and investment leaders drawn from key nations across the Arab and African regions.

The Supreme Council for Arab-African Economy is an internationally recognized platform established in France, registered with the United Nations, and headquartered in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It aims to foster economic integration, promote strategic investments, and champion sustainable development across both regions.

During the meeting, President Irro and the visiting delegation engaged in substantive discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in key sectors such as foreign direct investment, infrastructure development, natural resource utilization, agricultural transformation, and regional trade facilitation.

President Irro welcomed the delegation and expressed gratitude for the Council’s growing interest in Somaliland’s economy. He underscored the country’s sustained peace and stability, democratic governance, and investor-friendly climate as critical foundations for reliable and long-term partnerships.

Hon. Saeed Mohamed Buraale, Minister of Investment Promotion and Industrial Development, who had earlier received the delegation upon arrival, outlined the key objectives of the mission, noting that:

1. The Council aims to conduct a comprehensive assessment of Somaliland’s investment landscape, particularly in extractives, livestock, fisheries, and agribusiness.

2. A series of consultative meetings will be held with relevant government ministries and regulatory agencies to explore legal and policy frameworks for cooperation.

3. Plans are underway to establish a permanent liaison office in Somaliland to facilitate sustained engagement and coordination.

In their remarks, the Council’s leadership praised Somaliland’s institutional development, economic resilience, and its geostrategic position in the Horn of Africa. They reaffirmed their commitment to forging a practical and results-driven partnership that will contribute to inclusive growth and regional prosperity.

The meeting concluded with a mutual pledge to deepen bilateral collaboration, as the delegation prepares for further high-level consultations with government stakeholders in the coming days.
