Somalia and EU Forge Collaborative Path, Outlining Priorities for the Next Two Years

Prime Minister Hamse Abdi Barre of Somalia hosted European Union Ambassador Karin Johansson in Mogadishu. The leaders engaged in a comprehensive discussion about the intricate partnership between Somalia and the European Union, focusing on the Joint Operational Roadmap that delineates key priorities for the forthcoming two years.

This Joint Operational Roadmap, a product of meticulous consultations between Mogadishu and Brussels, centers on three pivotal domains: inclusive politics, democratization, security and stabilization, and socio-economic growth.

Prime Minister Abdi Barre conveyed his gratitude to the European Union for its steadfast support to Somalia, particularly in the combat against al-Shabaab and the provisions of vital humanitarian and developmental aid. He underscored the urgency of accelerating interventions for the recently liberated communities within the nation.

Ambassador Johansson reiterated the European Union’s unwavering dedication to assisting Somalia in its journey towards peace, prosperity, and socio-economic stability. She commended the government’s strides in establishing a federal state and conducting democratic processes. She emphasized the paramount importance of fostering dialogue and collaboration among all stakeholders in Somalia.
