Somalia, Iraq leaders discuss counterterrorism efforts

The meeting between the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, and the President of Iraq, Abdul Latif Rashid, emphasized cooperation in security matters.

The discussion focused on intelligence sharing, joint training exercises, and reportedly, coordinated operations against terrorist groups in which they believe it could strengthen the capabilities of both nations to address not only immediate threats but also to manage long-term security challenges.

Also, the two presidents discussed mutual interests that benefit the people of Somalia and Iraq. The duo also emphasized the significance of economic cooperation, cultural exchanges, and support in areas such as education and healthcare.
