Somalia’s Prime Minister, Hamse Abdi Barre, convened with a delegation from the East African Community’s Parliament to emphasize the significance of timely resolution of issues for seamless integration into the regional market.
Stressing cooperation on policy alignment, the cultivation of a conducive business environment, and bolstering regional security, Prime Minister Barre expressed appreciation to the EAC parliament members for Somalia’s inclusion in the bloc.
During the discourse, Prime Minister Barre underscored the mutual benefits for Somalia and EAC countries stemming from Somalia’s membership, particularly in terms of market access and regional integration, highlighting Somalia’s abundance of natural resources.
Somalia officially became the 8th Partner State of the East African Community on March 4th, 2024, following the formal deposit of its instrument of ratification of the Treaty of Accession with the EAC Secretary General at a ceremony held at the EAC Headquarters in Arusha, Tanzania.
