The President of the Republic of Somaliland, H.E. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (Irro), today officially closed the Erigabo Peace Conference, marking a significant milestone in the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen peace, reconciliation, and unity across the Sanaag region.
The conference, initiated by President Irro, brought together over 500 delegates, including traditional leaders, elders, and community representatives from across the region. The discussions focused on fostering social harmony, addressing local disputes, and promoting sustainable stability in Erigabo and the wider Sanaag area.
During the closing ceremony, President Irro was accompanied by Sultan Siciid Sultan Abdulsalaan and Ugaas Abdirashid Ugaas Rooble Ugaas Doodi. He praised the efforts of local elders and traditional leaders who played a central role in achieving reconciliation.
The Erigabo Peace Conference stands as a model of Somaliland’s homegrown approach to conflict resolution—led by communities, guided by elders, and supported by government institutions.
