Detained opposition officials arraigned in court

Hargeisa (Somaliland.com) – Waddani party’s secretary-general and spokesperson were arraigned in court on Sunday morning.

Khadar Hussein and Barkhad Jama were taken from Mandhera maximum prison at fife thirty this morning. They arrived at the court in Hargeisa around seven a.m. The security in and around the court was tightened for the appearance of Waddani officers.

The prosecution team requested more time to prepare their case against Khadar Hussein and Barkhad Jama Batun. They also asked to have the opposition officials to be detained in kept in prison for that period.

The judge granted the request of the prosecution team and remanded both officials for four more days. They were taken back to prison.

Khadar Hussein and Barkhad Jama had beenarrested last Sunday evening after Waddani called for a public meeting at the party headquarters in Hargeisa. Early on Monday, they were transferred to Maandheera maximum security prison in Sahil region.
