The Mayor of Hargeisa Abdikarim Ahmed Mogeh has launched the second day of demolishing illegal constructions on the streets and open roads that have been blocked by squatters in the city.
The Hargeisa municipality started the exercise early this morning at Rashid Mosque all the way to Hargeisa central police station.
The mayor said residents have welcomed his decision and they will proceed with the move until all the roads are reopened. He urged the rest of the public who have blocked the roads to remove their property before the city council demolishes it.
Upon assuming office last year, the Mayor managed to construct new roads as well as renovate others. During his election campaign, he pledged to make Hargeisa a beautiful and clean city as well reopen blocked roads that cause traffic jams in the city.
