His Excellency Dr. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (Irro), President of the Republic of Somaliland, on Tuesday evening chaired a high-level consultative meeting with senior representatives of the Somaliland business community at the Presidential Palace.

The meeting was part of the government’s broader national mobilization efforts to address the escalating humanitarian crisis caused by the prolonged drought affecting several regions of the country.

In his remarks, President Irro emphasized the urgency of the situation and appealed to the private sector to fulfill its national duty by supporting the National Drought Relief Initiative—a government-led framework aimed at coordinating and accelerating emergency assistance to affected communities.

The President stressed the importance of a unified, nationwide response that transcends institutional boundaries, calling on all Somalilanders to stand together in the face of adversity. He praised the resilience and solidarity of the people of Somaliland and reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the welfare, dignity, and rights of every citizen.

In response, business leaders expressed their strong support for the President’s vision. They pledged substantial financial contributions, logistical support, and strategic collaboration to advance the goals of the national drought response. The private sector representatives also committed to working closely with public institutions to ensure that aid is delivered swiftly, fairly, and in full coordination with national humanitarian mechanisms.
