The President of the Republic of Somaliland HE Muse Bihi Abdi has congratulated the efforts of Somaliland diaspora in the United Kingdom and appreciated the Birmingham City Council for recognizing the independence and sovereignty of the Republic of Somaliland.
Birmingham City Council District Council expressed its profound sense of dignity and humanity, which they dared to recognize the right of our nation.
In a press statement from the presidential palace, the Somaliland president also thanked to anyone who participated in the Somaliland case and made efforts in recent years to convince the British local Councils in recognition of the Republic of Somaliland.
Other local councils who previously recognized Somaliland as an independent nation include the local councils of Cardiff, Sheffield, and Tower Hamlets (London).
Finally, the President of the Republic of Somaliland calls upon the international community to recognize the progress made by the people and government of Somaliland during the past 28 years.
