Puntland Vice President Ahmed Elmi Osman Karash dismissed the region’s interior, finance and security ministers, the three ministers have close ties with the regional President Saed Deni and this could deepen the dispute between the two top officials.
Karaash fired Mohamed Abdirahman Dhabancad (Interior Minister) and replaced to him with Abdiqani Hashi Bumbo. The Vice President also appointed Abdirizak Mire Hassan as the new Finance minister. The vice president did not give details if this decision is in connection with the political standoff between him and his boss.
The dismissal of these officials escalates the political crisis between Deni and Ahmed Karaash. According to sources, President Deni is expected to return to Garowe immediately to resolve the issue with his deputy.
