The Government of Somaliland has sent condolences to the Republic of Tanzania for the death of President John Magufuli.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Somaliland described the death of President Magufuli as a “Tragic Loss” and said their thoughts and prayers are with the People of Tanzania.
Magufuli’s death was announced on Wednesday by Vice President Samia Suluhu, who said the president died of heart failure. Although the vice president said the cause of Magufuli’s death was heart failure, opposition politicians had earlier alleged that he was sick from COVID-19.
