The Opposition political parties of Somaliland; Waddani and UCID have victoriously managed to take the Mayorship of Erigavo city from the ruling party. During their first sitting, the newly elected local council members of the city voted for Ismail Haji Nour of Waddani party ,to be the Mayor.
Isamil will once again serve as the mayor of Erigavo for the next 5 years. His re-election makes him one of the longest serving mayors of Somaliland. Meanwhile the local council members also voted for Abdirahman Gaadhijiidh of Ucid party as the deputy Mayor.
On the other side, there is a debate emerging after the newly elected local council members held their first sitting today which is in contrast to the schedule previously released by the interior ministry.
