On Saturday, the two Somaliland opposition parties refused to commemorate 18th May with President Muse Bihi at the presidency following the growing election dispute between the government and oppositions.
They have announced their own committee for the commemoration and called supporters to celebrate with them. This could be a divisive move that could lead to people not celebrating in unity.
Their statement came after a dispute erupted within the national electoral commission members over the leadership and accused the president for interfering with the commission, an allegation the president and his administration did not respond to.
