Somaliland President arrives in USA to deliver a keynote speech

Somaliland President Muse Bihi has arrived in Washington. According to the Presidency he was warmly welcomed by US officials. Somaliland officials said the President is expected to meet the Biden administration officials, members of congress and civil society members during his stay in the country.

Talks will include ways of strengthening relations between the two countries . President Bihi will deliver a keynote speech about the US-Somaliland relations which is entitled: “The greater promise of closer US and Somaliland ties”

The visit came months after a congressional staff delegation visited Somaliland capital Hargeisa and discussed with president Bihi on Somaliland-US relations, stability, development, vibrant democracies, and elections.

Somaliland is regarded as the most democratic state in the horn of Africa despite no single state having recognised Somaliland as a sovereign state . However it has close relations with most powerful countries like UK, USA, and other European countries.
