Somaliland President Calls For The first Session Of The Newly Elected MPs

Somaliland President Muse Bihi has finally called for the first session of the newly elected house of representatives on Tuesday. The session will officially start at 9:00 am local time at the Parliament building in Hargeisa.

The 82 members of the house will take the oath office and shortly will elect the leadership of the house where Yasin Haji Mohamoud Faraton from the ruling party and former foreign minister will be contestinh for the speakership.

Abdirazak Khalif from the coalition party will be the only opposition figure who will contest for the speakership. The two rivals hail from the same region. The race for the speakership between the national political parties has been heating up frequently for the past few days.

Some of the ruling party Mps could be seen endorsing the opposition candidate while other MPs elected from the opposition parties endorsed Faraton who is representing the ruling party.
