Somaliland immigiration police arrested 5 Nigerian nationals and one Somali man for making counterfeit money. Somaliland authorities accused the suspects of an attempt to disrupt the country’s economy.
The country’s immigaraion police chief revealed that these suspects were arrested during a security operation. He also added that the immigration officers apprehended various equipment aimed to facilitate them for making the counterfeit currency.
Somaliland Immigration police chief underscored that the suspects had entered the country through land border and the airport. Immigration officials said they have been following the suspects closely since their arrival into Hageisa.
The outgoing governor of the central Bank Ali Ibrahim Baqdadi affirmed there was no printed money by the suspects that has circulated in the market.
