Hargeisa, 18 August 2025 – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Somaliland has issued a strong condemnation of what it describes as unacceptable interference by the Government of Turkey.
Foreign Minister Hon. Abdirahman Dahir Aadan summoned the Turkish Consul General in Hargeisa after reports confirmed a meeting in Mogadishu between the Turkish Ambassador and Sultan Wabar, an individual linked to activities against the security and sovereignty of Somaliland.
In its official statement, the Government of Somaliland stressed that this act constitutes a clear violation of Somaliland’s sovereignty and internal security. The ministry demanded an immediate and credible explanation from the Turkish Ambassador regarding the motives behind this engagement, which Somaliland views as deliberate interference.
“The Republic of Somaliland will never tolerate actions that undermine its independence, security, or national interests,” the statement declared.
This latest diplomatic protest underscores Somaliland’s firm stance against any foreign actions perceived as attempts to destabilize the country or question its sovereignty.
