Somaliland: Two people die in Berbera coast

At Least two were confirmed dead after four people drowned while swimming at Berbera beach yesterday evening. Local authorities came to the scene immediately after they received the report about the incident to rescue victims

The youth were reported to have traveled from Gabiley to Burao to play a friendly football match. But, on their way back they stopped Berbera to swim at the beach and lost two of their friends in the incident.

Witnesses said the emergency team immediately rescued the lives of two and pulled one of them from the water dead while it took several hours to discover the other body. They also noted the beach tide gets high and sent a warning to the local tourists to not risk their lives.

The coastal city is popular for local and international tourists. But, many people have drowned while swimming or lost their lives in car accidents on the road between Hargeisa and Berbera.
