Somaliland’s Supreme Court Approves the elected house of representatives

Somaliland supreme court has formally approved the 82 elected members of the house of representatives on Wednesday. The event was attended by senior government officials including the Speaker of the upper house and other representatives from the national political parties.

The Chairman of the supreme court Adam Haji Ali announced the approval of the newly elected members of the house and said their names in public. The chairman clarified that all the concerned government institutions will receive the waiting list of all candidates.

“ The supreme court has officially ratified the preliminary results of the recently concluded house of representative election that we had received from the Somaliland National electoral commission on 9th June.”said the chairman

It’s unclear when the newly elected MPs will have their first sitting to elect the chairmanship where both opposition parties and ruling party are fiercely competing with each other.
