Waddani party spokesperson says Somaliland is in constitutional crises not political crises

Somaliland MP and spokesperson of Waddani party Barkhad Jama Batun said that Somaliland is in a constitutional crisis and not a political crisis. Addressing the current political situation in the country, he put all the blame on president Muse Bihi.

He said President Bihi is the mastermind of the constitutional controversy that erupted between the country’s political stakeholders. Barkhad Batuun urged the president to hold the presidential election on its scheduled time, 13 November 2022 without delay.

Explaining which election shall be held first, Barkhad emphasized that the Presidential election will come before the political association election citing that the Presidential election is constitutional while the other one is based on a law which the Mps can amend at any time.

The opposition parties had accused president Bihi of attempting to extend his term, an accusation the president has yet to comment on.
