At least three people have been injured after a hand grenade hurled at a restaurant exploded, in Kismaayo of Lower Jubba region.
According to residents, three people have been confirmed injured. Sources added the target was a restaurant which is frequented by government soldiers.
Al-Shabaab has claimed responsibility for the attack. Recent attacks by al-Shabaab killed three people including a security guard and Jubaland Chamber Of Commerce Chairman in Kismayo.
The group has been fighting in Somalia since 2007 to topple the internationally recognized government, and to establish an islamic state in the country and the region in large.
They also carry out attacks on major towns in Somalia including the capital Mogadishu and elsewhere targeting government officials as well as Amisom troops.
