UAE Donates Food Aid to Support 15,000 Drought-Affected Households in Somaliland

The Somaliland National Drought Relief Committee on Monday received a food aid donation from the Government of the United Arab Emirates, intended to support communities affected by the drought. The donation, consisting of basic food items, will reach 15,000 households across different regions of the country.

The handover ceremony took place at the Presidential Palace of the Republic of Somaliland and was attended by members of the Drought Relief Committee as well as representatives from the UAE government. Those present included Mr. Mubarak Alhashimi (representing the Somaliland–UAE Liaison Office) and Abdalla Alrumaithi, who delivered the assistance to the Committee.

It is worth noting that the Government of the United Arab Emirates had previously provided food aid targeting 9,000 households affected by drought.

Officials from the Drought Relief Committee expressed their deep gratitude to the UAE government for the support extended to the people of Somaliland impacted by the drought, highlighting that this reflects the brotherly relations and historic cooperation between Somaliland and the UAE.

The Committee members also sincerely thanked the UAE government for its consistent support and its visible role in humanitarian aid to the people of Somaliland, as well as the development projects it continues to implement in the country.
