The Spokesman of Al Qaeda affiliated extremist group of Al Shabaab, Sheikh Ali Mohamud Raage also known as ‘Ali Dheere’ was reported to have been injured in military combat with the Somalia National Army (SNA) at Shaam settlement in Lower Shabelle.
The SNA carried out the operation on 11 August 2019. The operation was aimed at redeeming Awdheegle in the Lower Shabelle region from the control of Al Shabaab.
According to reports from State-affiliated media outlets in Somalia, Ali Dheere was reportedly taken to a nearby area of Kuntu Waarey which is still under the control of Al-Shabaab.
There are no official sources confirming the injuries of the Al Shabaab spokesperson outside the claim made by the government of Somalia.
The Al Shabab run radio station known as Radio Andalus aired a voice clip in which its spokesman delivered a speech on the dawn of Eid Al Adha.
