Hiiran region police commanders were killed this afternoon following a clash with militias allied to immediate former Hiiraan governor Yusuf Dabageed.
Hiiraan is region in Hirshabelle State of central Somalia.
local reporters in Jowhar said two police chiefs were shot dead at a check-point in Kalabeyr area near Beletweyne town.
Hiiraan police commander Mohamed Mahow Halane and his Beletweyne counterpart whose name could not immediately be established succumbed to the bullet wounds.
Former governor Mr Yusuf Dabageed was fired last week from his post.
