The media was barred from covering the meeting, therefore no one can confirm what the two parties had concurred in this inconspicuous meeting, however, many political commentators are skeptical the purpose of the meeting, and what it entails for the future stability of Somaliland.
Given the nature of their existing relationship between successive Kulmiye administration, and the ruling family of the Emirates, which always shrouded in secrecy.

The predecessor of the current Kulmiye President (Ahmed Siilaanyo) and some of his previous cabinet members currently reside in Dubai, with rich elaborate gold decor villas beyond their means.
Kulmiye administration had in the past awarded serious of concessions to Emirates entities, including management of Berbera Port to (DPWorld) and provided military base for the expansion of Emirates military presence in the horn, in exchange the UAE promised to develop and expand the capacity of Berbera port and help build major road networks (Berbera Corridor) which yet to materialise after many years.

When the president returned to Somaliland state capital, his foreign minister had addressed the waiting media reporters, and announces some of the details of what was agreed on the president visit to UAE; one of the most alarming aspects of the foreign minister briefing was; Somaliland and UAE agreed to undertake future dual collaboration between the two countries, to fight Islamic terrorism!

Islamic terror phenomena had not been present in Somaliland, in-fact Somaliland is free from any sort terrorism of any kind. Indeed, this has warning signs all over it, and perhaps could draw unwarranted interest from more stablished powers, and could possibly pose serious ramifications for the stability of the horn.

Somaliland had been long independent of outside influence when it comes to its internal affairs, however since the Kulmiye took power, it become apparent to the varying foreign influence creeping in to Somaliland, albeit the commercially linked family tie-ups with Djibouti and the more visible Emirates presence, which some argue that both have bankrolled the current presidential election campaign and to some extent help manage the result of the presidential election in to the current presidents favour.

What is alarming to the ordinary Somalilanders, is the fact that their president had sold their country to un-elected undemocratic Sultans who ruled their country for life, and to add insult to injury, Somaliland is facilitating Emirates run terrorist holding prison in Berbera, including torture chambers in the name of war on terror, the shorter proximity of Yemen to Berbera where the UAE had been in a war with Houthi militia, could spill over to the shores of Berbera.

The real prospect of using these facilities to quashed any internal uprising within Somaliland is very real, with the help of the Emirates intelligence services and Somaliland forces, its dangerous prospect for the ordinary Somalilanders.
